CC 682 - Added a little Weight!

As you may have seen in my other posts, the 682 has come along nicely and now it's playing around in the snow. Obviously, with the wide tires, traction has been a problem. I added a set of tire chains, but still needed some weight. Not wanting to spend any money, and trying to use what I already have here, I remembered that I had two small 45# suitcase weights. Well, now I just needed a bracket for them. Here's what I came up with:

It's a bit hard to see in the pictures but the two side plates bolt to the existing 3 holes in the back of each side of the frame, so the bracket can be taken on and off by just removing 6 bolts. Also, I figured that the bracket itself weighs about 20#, so I've got about 110# of added weight hanging off the back of the tractor. More weight than adding 4 of the 26# wheel weights! So, had to give her a try. Since we haven't gotten any new snow, I plowed a path through the lawn back to the pond, about 800-feet. It plowed 4 to 5 inches of old, heavy, crusty snow like it was butter, and never slipped once! I think I"ll be good for whatever snow comes now!

Later,
Bill
