carburetor without choke arm to latch the filister and rod

I have a 1973 yellow Cub with an original IH carburetor that doesn't have the shaft that protrudes for connecting the filister and choke rod. It has a metal cap there. Is there something I should know? Or can I just order a new choke kit with choke shaft and door and replace it. I first thought that maybe this one doesn't have a manual choke but that also didn't make any sense to me. thanks

No telling what might have happened in in 50+ years. If you want to have the connection for the choke McDonald Carb has the individual parts for making the repairs. Best to contact him by phone. JMHO Stan

I think your carb may be designed for a choke cable, rather than a rod. As asked above, post a photo. Also, McDonald Carb closes at the end of the month. Morgan said he's going a different direction and selling all his carb stuff.
 
I don't have a smart phone but my wife can make photos this morning and I will post. Stan's photo of carb with cable looks to answer the question. Will post photos soon.
 
okay .......... I think that may help. I apologize for the multiple posts. Haven't done this here prior to today. I will call McDonald's a little later [it is 6:30 AM here now]. I do everything in the early hours especially since it's hot - we live in deep south Louisiana.

YUP, take a look at the pics that I posted above from the 154 Owner's Manual. Looks like the hole is for the Z bend in the choke cable that Bob McCarty posted about. (pic source unknown). JMHO Stan

Here are a couple of photos. Maybe these will help. The serial number 240062 J may be a 1972 according to my Steiner catalog reference as 1973 begins with 240581. It was sold to me as a 1973 but that appears to be incorrect. 20260805_085435.jpg
 
In response to does my tractor have the choke rod? ......... the answer is no. There was no choke mechanism at all that I could determine. Which led me on this goose chase of sourcing a rod and filister to attach to the carb that didn't have a shaft that protruded from that side of the carburetor. Could someone have put this carb on from another model [and I suppose the answer is definitely yes]? Who knows what the person upstream from me has done.

I couldn't load the other photo as it was too large according to the prompt that came up.

I know nothing about International tractors as all my years have been with Ford and JD.
