C20 plow question

I bought a C20 plow that was missing the front coulter. I had a gizmo (I don’t know what it’s called) that looks like a mini plow or heavy duty cultivator that came with my Cub plow. It has the same size shank (1 1/4”) as the coulter has. My question is will this work as a substitute for a coulter.

That's known as a jointer. As Stan says, it may help, but not like a coulter. You can probably find a coulter at a salvage yard, or at a swap meet.

You know, I knew that but had forgotten. Duh
I have another coulter that I did pick up at a salvage yard, the same time I got the parts to repair my broken axle.

Since I “remembered” what that gizmo is called I did a little research on how they were used. It seems there are two types, one attaches to the coulter and the other attaches to the plow beam.
So another question, is the jointer that attaches to the plow beam used in conjunction with a coulter? The only picture I found of that type was on a Cub plow (193?) without a coulter.
Thanks guys for the replies!!

Could be I suppose to help turn heavy trash over like corn stalks etc.
Yes. I think it is mostly helpful with tall grass. If you want details, the book "Tractor Plowing at Its Best" in the resources is a good place to look (pages 8-10).
