Buzz Saw Color

How does the blade get "unset"?

As the set is a bend away from the line of the blade, as the blade is sharpened, the set is reduced.
Blades of this size are "Hammer set". A small gauge resembling a "t' is placed on the blade. The lower three ponts are bent in holding the 3rd off the blade about 1/8". Alternate teeth are lightly hammered untill they touch the gauge. The process is repeated on the other side with the other teeth.

I am getting closer to having it ready for this week. I still have parts to add. It it doesn't cut at least it will look better in the parade than it did yesterday. Thanks to Winfield Dave for the before pic from the Tug.

Looks great, Are you missing the chain and front guard for yours?

Phil, I have the chain, it is awaiting a good cleaning. I am going to fab the guard at Stonethrow. I got the dimensions and made a drawing for the guard from Bud's saw at CI. I then put that paper in a place where I wouldn't loose it. The problem is that place does not exist. I can't find them at all. I will make do somehow.

Thanks Bill, we were gonna sharpen the teeth at Ron's. I'm not sure about setting the teeth before then with the time constraints unless someone down there can do that. I have never used one of these so it is all new to me. I do know to keep all parts of my body away from moving saw parts. Maybe I will let Corky do this and I will video record it. :D

I"ll make sure and bring the video camera, if Corky is going to operate heavy machinery, video is a must!!

Hey guys,

I don't know how I missed all this gibberish about Corky running heavy machinery at StoneThrow, but in the words of our now-departed former President Nixon, "let me make one thing perfectly clear": there is no set of circumstances that will draw ole Corky anywhere near this contraption while it is running! I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, but momma didn't raise no fool either!

Corky :bellylaugh:

Here it is with the chain temporarily installed. Once I get the guard built I will hook the chain where it belongs.
