You did not say what kind of blasting you will be doing, whether it is small to medium sized parts in a cabinet, or large parts outdoors, also what type of material, such as the aluminum pot metal carbs and magnetos are made of, or the large castings. All of that makes a difference. Also what type of apparatus you intend to blast with, whether a small siphon gun, or a pressurized pot type blaster. Also the air compressor needs to be taken into consideration. I have one of the small 40lb. pressurized pot blasters, and it requires nearly 10 cu ft of air at 90psi per minute, unless you want to stop and wait for pressure to build up on a regular basis. Once we know your plans we can give better advice on media.

Do NOT blast assemblies, the dust gets into them in places you would not believe.
 
John is (I hate to say it) totally right! one good resource on blasting is T P Tools, they have been manufacturing and selling top quality blasting gear for a very long time. They have a lot of info on their web site.
 
The project I am currently working on is the frame for my 1947 Plymouth. I am working on sandblasting the frame. My set up is a 40 lb. pressure pot and a 60 gallon 2 stage compressor.
