Best seed plate for Okra

Hello everyone. I have been working on getting a 174 planter working on my 1953 Cub. What seed plate for a Richmond hopper is the best for planting okra? Thanks for any help you can give.

I can't give any specific suggestion. You need to use a sample of your seed to decide what will fit. The Operator's Manual for that planter has an extensive section on plate selection and use. I think that typically the Duplex Hopper was used for okra and set up for hill dropping 4 or 5 seeds per cell. The hill drop or flat drop plates probably would work better than the edge drop plates.

If you do not have the Operator's Manual, you can find one on this site in the resources.

I'd look for a popcorn plate like an 1853A, or a beet plate1854A, Kaffir 1901A, also a sorghum plate would work like a 1967A or a 3359a. One of my favorites for green beans is a 3127 they are common , it scatters seed quite thick but you will have a good stand no lack of plants.
