I read the earlier thread about tire beads not setting, but had a question specific to tire inflation pressure: what is the maximum PSI you should go to set a bead for a rear tire with tube?
My rear tires are 11.2-36, farm auction purchase. I worked on the first one, inflating it to 30 PSI and had 2 places that wouldn’t set. Deflated it, set aside. Worked on the second one, inflating it to 40 PSI, walked away from it and it fully seated in about 5 minutes. Went back to the first one and re-inflated it to 40 PSI and one of the 2 sides seated shortly after.
Have any of you exceeded 40 PSI?
I’ve used a good slippery mix of dish soap and water.
