I’m not as young as I used to be, and lifting a 5 gallon gas can to put gas in the cub is getting too hard. Was thinking about getting one of those pumps.
Anyone tried them? Are they worth it?

My preferred method is to fill a couple of 5 qt motor oil plastic jugs with part of the 5 gallon container which leaves about 2 gallons that is easier to handle. A long neck funnel makes the job easier. JMHO Stan

I don’t have to handle a lot of gasoline so I have ditched 5 gal. containers, altogether. I have acquired several 2 1/2 gallon containers and that’s what I take to the gas station. I have a tank, beside my shop for off road diesel, since that’s what I use mostly.

I have bought several of the $10-20 pumps and
I have something similar to the Sierra Tools JB5684 at Wal-Mart. Mine was from Runings or Fleet Farm. The first or second time I used it, gas leaked out near the top. Disassembly revealed a small vacuum break valve that leaked. I don't remember if I plugged it or just put it back. Eather way, it has been okay since. I don't use it much, only with a full 5g can and depending on how high the reach to the filler cap.

It worked real good to empty a tractor tank to work on a sediment bowl assembly. Much better than trying to dump it out when attached to the tractor.

That’s the style I am looking to. I found one with a 47” hose which should be about perfect.

I bought this one about 3 years ago for occasional use. It works well to remove the oil from my RTZ mower and I've also used it for gasoline transfer. After the pump is primed it will gravity feed to a lower level container. It has 4 ft suction and discharge clear tubing. The only problem I encountered was the internal suction cup on the end of the rod came off a couple of times but I drilled the threaded plastic holder for the suction cup and through the rod then installed a cotter pin through it to hold it from unscrewing. Been working good since the modification. I picked mine up in the store in the automotive section Click on the link to view it. I have no idea how the ID got transferred to Robot or Human! Stan
