Archery Deer In Michigan

I got this guy this morning as he was chasing a doe. I tried to get him to stop with no luck. He did slow down briefly which is all it took. That's why I love instinctive shooting, I just came to anchor and the ol' computer did all of the calculations. I released the arrow and the 2 met. The shot looked low to me but in reality it couldn't have been better. I watched him die about 40 yards from where I shot him.
My bow is a 45# Samick Sage, shooting a Gold Tip shaft with a 125 grain Grizzly mounted on a 125 grain Ace Broadhead adapter.

No time to video him coming in but I've got a shaky video of the recovery.

BURGER TIME!!! LOL!! great bag! ---a friend down the road here been filling his bow tags right and left! ---- I never went bowhunting ---only slugs in long barrel shotgun. --- Still miss not being able to hunt anymore!
Enjoy your hunts!!

Congrats! Nice deer to start your retirement!

Thanks for sharing the video; beautiful morning the Lord blessed you with. Looks pretty dry out. Firearms deer season opens up this morning in Missouri.

How long were you in the stand?

Nice deer. Rifle season opened last weekend in the central section of NC where I hunt. I’ve seen a 10 point a couple of times during our bow and black powder seasons but he wouldn’t come in range. I haven’t hunted yet during the gun season but I’m going this weekend. Hope to see him again because he’ll be in range of my rifle

Congratulations on the buck ,I just joined the forum glad to see there is another stick bow shooter on here.

I've hunted with longbow for years and about 8 years back started hunting with a Robertson Vision Falcon that I purchased second hand. Nice bow. Two years ago I was having issues with my shoulder and purchased a 45# Samick Sage recurve after working through the issue with 25# then a 38# bow I had hanging in the basement. I liked the Sage so much it's become my hunting bow.
I've been to the Expo but it's kind of an expensive show. I attended the Compton shoot every year. It's only about 25 miles from my house. Our daughter and I usually camp for the weekend.

Do you ever go to the Eastern Traditional shoot in Coudersport, PA? It's a great shoot!

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away my middle daughter is on a traveling sporting clays team we were tied up this past weekend. I have been to Denton Hill in the past I stopped going about 6 or 7 years ago because it cost us about 140 dollars for the 5 of us just to get in the gate. Denton is a awesome shoot if you are looking to buy stuff but the courses tend to be to crowded. My family likes to go to Sawmill it is put on by the same people as Denton but it is less crowded which gives us more opportunities to shoot.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind i have a friend that I elk hunted with that lives near Kalamazoo that I could stay with.

One of the best traditional shoots that I've been to is near Buffalo NY at a club called hawkeye bowmen if you are ever up this way. You can shoot all you want for the weekend for one price and they allow camping on the property they also have a kitchen and showers there.
