Another project.

Purchased a 1966 Farmall 504 gas tractor last week. Did not need it but wanted one of the 1960's style. Drove it home after cleaning the carb, points and plugs. It is going to need rear tires and some other minor stuff. Have not done a compression check yet but it did not smoke on the way home. I had worked on it about 20 years ago and put an alternator on it and repaired some wiring. The add on power steering leaks and the tie rods will have to be replaced. Hope to get started on it about March. Got a bunch of small projects to get done first on my other tractors.

Nice find! That 504 has a real classic look. We never really 'need' another one, but it is hard to say no to a classic. Haha. Glad to hear it is running clean with no smoke. Good luck with the repairs in March!

Those are sweet tractors. I mowed with one along highways 40+ years ago equipped with a Danco 6' belly mower. It didn't have the T/A, for its size was very easy on gas. LOVED that old tractor..!!

Love the look of the 504. You have a nice runner!

Update on the 504. Had some other stuff going on this year but did get to work on the 504 some. It got new tie rods, new gauges, switches, steering wheel, better rear tires and some other parts. Helped the neighbor with his crp mowing till I broke my Bush Hog cutter. Plan to rebuild the engine this winter because it will not hold oil pressure at idle when warm. I have rebuilt the pump and replaced the oil pressure switch. Compression is in the 150 - 155 range, new is 180. It starts right up and pulled the 7 foot cutter easily. Just not happy with oil pressure, but I knew it was a problem when I bought it. For me buying a running tractor is a rarity. Have the stuff to rebuild the seat. Will need the correct radiator, it has one from a Farmall H in it.
