Allis Chalmers WD

I've never owned one but there have always been a lot of them in my area. I've always thought they were a good tractor. If it's a good runner, $900 seems like a steal to me.

$900- is about the average auction selling price in central Missouri. New rear tires cost close to the asking price.

It's a good work tractor. Just under 4000 lbs.

No syncro transmission.

3-point adapter ??? If it has the complete 3-point, the 3-point alone is worth $400- or a bit more.

Hand and foot clutch which gives you a live PTO. One way hydraulics.

Parts are available but getting expensive. I own two WD's, one of which I'm parting out.

If you buy the first listed tractor, purchase the second tractor with loader for parts.

Eugene, having two Allis, where do you get your parts? Steiners, salvage yards, NAPA, etc.? I believe these are good prices and I probably can get them both for less if I buy both of them. Getting them home would mean two trips. And I have to sell the CFO on them - that may be the biggest hurdle. I'm not the ask for forgiveness over permission type - that just doesn't seem to work with my wife as it supposedly does with other people's wives.

I remember on Mecum's Gone Farming auction, the commentators were saying that the Allis tractors were a bit lighter than the other brands. I'm thinking a WD is about the size of an H, but I haven't seen one in person to compare.

The WD is about the size of the H. Compare on Tractordata.com.- - check the drawbar pull when tested.

Most parts come from the auto parts store. AgcoAllis. Internet search for other parts. Or from the parts tractor. Parts are not hard to come by. At one time there were 3 or 4 Allis Chalmers dealers in the county.

On the parts tractor. Son bent up the PTO shaft. $250-. That's when I decided to part out one of the WD's.

Make sure the hydraulics work on the first tractor before purchasing.

Expect the steering to be loose on the tractors, - Common fault with old tractors.

I like them, but you sit at an odd angle...kind of reclined...not like a farmall

I saw where the seat was and that did sort of bothered me. My Farmall B sits kind of low which I don't particularly care for. I probably won't pursue this too much more. But who knows.

I have 4 wd's and 4 wd-45's --- good tractors but no usable hydraulic systems on them---that allis design was a joke!---You have to install a regular standard pump and valves on them to get actual hydraulics. I only use mine as pull tractors an rarely ever try to use the hydraulics on any of them.

Checked the seats. Parts tractor, someone has welded a block to the shock attachment to raise the seat about 1 1/4". Second tractor, I hinged the seat, flops forward to accomodate the WoodMax WM-8600 backhoe when operating it.

Hydraulics, one way, high pressure, low volume., designed for farm implements. We pick up and carry the backhoe, 1150 lbs. on the 3-point. We have a carry all that attaches to the 3-point. We have also added about 500 lbs of weight to the tractor front.

H is about the same money. N series Fords somewhere around $1500-.

Next day edit. Looked over all the photos of the $900- tractor. 3-point $400-. Belt pulley $100-.

T-Mo! --- its worth 900 without a doubt if you want/need a pull tractor. Dont figure on having any hydraulics to use on anything!

as a youngun I used a WC Allis almost daily to clean the barnyard. the Kelly loader worked fine. it was our smallest tractor, we went up from there to 2 Farmall Ms, one a super, and then a case for the big field tractor

I have to disagree. My WD has a New Idea loader on it & it works fine. My only issue is I wish it was a 2 way system.
