After the cultivitors

I set my gardens up so the smaller plants are in the middle of the tractor and are cultivated by the inside of the cultivators and the taller ones are cultivated by the out side of the cultivators when I cultivate the row of smaller plants, if that makes sense, so all get cultivated.....Some of the larger landowners may have a better system....Dave :tractor:

My garden is about twice the size of yours. From a practical standpoint, that's hardly worth getting the cults set up for. Especially with that variety in size of plants. However, I do understand the desire to use that Cub, when possible. :D
Personally, I use the walk-behind rototiller and hoe from start to finish.

You got it right I'm just trying to use the Cub Lo boy :mrgreen: , i do relize the garden is small and cults and Loboys don't mix but i'm having fun and a rear cult on a Lo boy might add to the fun :lol: Thanks a[preciate the replies 8) :tractor:
 
I have two gardens both about 50 x 100...I use the Cub, A gravely walk behind I refurbished, a mantis titler and hoes , rakes and potato hooks...The contraption Shane mentioned looks interesting ...At some point you will need a little less seat time and a little more manual therapy... :lol: :lol: :lol: You can always hook a trailer behind the lo boy to take your tools to the garden... :lol: :lol: Good Luck with the growing season...Dave :tractor:
 
I'll check out Shane's idea too always good to have more tools :mrgreen: currently I use this http://www.gardenweasel.com/garden-weas ... en-weasel/ a garden weasel awesome tool to keep the eeds down and also for spot seeding the lawn :D , as for the garden Ive always had a small 20x20 troybilt horse garden while the tiller is an awesome tool even on a 20x20 I find my self out there too long trying to loose up the soil , the Loboy did in minutes what the tiller took an hour to do plus I added 20 more feet 8) I might add another 20 and have a long 20x60 garden which I think will be easier with the Cub going long as opposed to square , any wauy have fun with the cub and the garden :D :tractor:
 
A hoe.

Mostly though I sit back and enjoy the harvest. Things like sweet corn will shade enough to hold the weeds back until harvest. Then I cultivate that part of the garden with the disk.....

I work with multiples of 50 feet because soaker hoses come in 50 foot lengths. My total garden space is 50x200, not necessarily all gardened each year. Rows run the long direction.
 
I "lay it by" and leave it alone. Potato plants are dying about the time the corn is too tall to cultivate. Tomatoes can be cultivated weeks after the corn is to tall. You can use straw to mulch tomato's if the weeds take over after you'd staked and tied them up. I have 50 foot rows. Generally raise 4 rows of potatoes, one row of tomatoes, 1 row of okra and cucumbers and 10 rows of corn. If you stay on top of your cultivating all year you won't have a weed problem while everything is ripening.
