9.5 X 24 rear tire instead of a 8.3 X 24?

The tires on my cub are mismatch. One very old tire with light weathering that will probably cleanup driving it through a hay field, the other is newer - odd tread and deep cracks. A guy has a pair of nice looking 9.5 X 24s BKTs for sale for $125 - a little driving to get them but seemed extremely cheap pricing. How do 9.5s look on the rims - do they look "bloated"?

my cub has 9.5's on it. would rather have 8.3 but not about to change them as long as they work. my 140 also has 9.3 on it and they look fine on both units. --- ACTUALL they look better than the smaller ones do! lol!

Might pull your sidewalls in a little, but assuming the rims are the correct size for the 9.5s it should work. I may be wrong but I think the rule is you can go up to 2" wider or narrower than the correct tire size for a given rim.

Depends on what width your rims are, 5, 6, or 7". 6 or 7 you could get away with it but I wouldn't try them on 5" rims. This is what 8.3's look like on 5" rims. Note only the center of the treads is making contact, 9" would be worse. You could expect 9's to look like this on 6" rims and a little flatter on 7" rims so check your rim width before making a decision.

I’m running 9.5s on mine and I like it. However, I am running the rims out for the wider stance. I can’t comment on clearance issues as some others have.
