The only thing I can offer you is to obtain a Service Manual. They can be obtained from: www.binderbooks.com. Scroll to the Cub Cadet section, then scroll to the diesel section to find the manual on the 782D.
 
eh, it's more of a curiousity really. I jsut got to thinking about it the other day while mowing and wondered if the diesel turns the hydro at the same speed and etc.
 
Ok, thank you. I was actually out mowing the lawn and for some reason i got to wondering if the diesel turned slower than the gas engines or not.
 
While the Kubota diesels do run at the same RPM's as the gas engines in the same applications, they have a unique sound to them that makes them sound like they are not working hard at all. And as their blocks and heads are thick and water cooled, the RPM's which are high for a diesel don't bother the Kubota's a bit. For their design, they never break into a sweat. Most of the Kubota triples put in the CC782D's still purr like new today. It became a popular little diesel for use on truck trailer refrigeration units. It's a typical overbuilt thing of days past that we will never see again.
