Well, Over half done with painting the 49 Cub. When done am going to pull the hydraulic touch control unit off the 57 and try my luck at rebuilding it. After working on the 49s unit, it sure has great lift. Thanks all on this site that have answered all my questions, sure do appreciate it.

Hi,
The Cubs look good in your pictures.
The lift rod on the left side of the Cub closest to the camera needs straightening. It's supposed to be put on like in the picture below.
There are 2 styles of rods, 1 has a bend down near the front, and 1 is straight.
On the bent ones the bend faces down. Maybe you knew already.
Below is a page from the Cub 144 Cultivator owner's manual showing the rod, in the lower picture.
 
In your 2nd picture above, it looks like the alternator belt adjustment is out at the end of the slot.
There's no way to tighten the belt if it stretches in the future.
I would buy a shorter belt and put on while the hood is off, so the alt is mostly at the inner end of the slot.
They can be tightened with the hood on, if the belt is shorter.
Be sure to not turn the nut at the rear of the fan shaft, it can break the cast slot that holds the fan hub. Put a wrench on the 6 sided place on the fan shaft, just to the rear of the alt drive pulley, and turn there.
Hold the nut at the rear of the shaft from turning, if needed.
The new fan belts I buy at Case IH make the fan shaft a little less than half way up the slot, when the belt is tight.
They don't use the lower part of the slot, except to lower the hub down, to remove the fan belt.
I have seen on here it can make a problem with the position of the alt drive pulley being too low, if the fan belt is too short.

THANKS ALL FOR THE HELP. I am on the hunt for a new alternator belt now. About 90% done painting except for hood. Need a little body work.
 
Digging that beetle too! I grew up with them and my dad built a Meyers Manx in 1969. My sister has it now. We lived not far from Silver Lake sand dunes in Michigan. That Manx saw a lot of time there in the early 1970's.

I like the cubs as well. You're doing a nice job on that 49.
