1955 French Cub in Germany!

Hi,
I'd like to show you some pics of my recently purchased Cub. It was my additional Christmas gift, so to say. :thanx:
It's a 1955 French Farmmal Cub, Serial# 700512. I have the 189 plow with it as the swinging draw bar, the crank and a spare blade for the sickle mower. As these Cubs are for sale quite numerous in France, I thought such a cub could be a nice addition to my collection (you can see my 1943 Farmall H in the background)

It is in all original condition with brand new rear tires. I planned to give the Cub some TLC but otherwise to keep it in its working clothes, as I do it with all my antique tractors.

More pics to follow!

The grooves in the upper PTO pulley are badly worn. Are new pulleys available? Further, the shroud around the mower belt is missing. Does anyone out there know where I can get a good used one? Thank you!

Hendrik

Check with forum sponsors for a replacement pto pulley. Used parts might be located by placing a wanted post on the Classified add forum. Forum member tst was reproducing some parts at one time. I believe the belt shield was one of them.

Really nice collection.

In the back of the Operator's Manual for US manufactured Cubs is the dimensions for the PTO shaft. If the PTO shaft dimensions on your Cub are the same as the US tractors, the pulley is available. But expensive.

You can access the available manuals, free, Quick Links, top left of this page.

Great Cub, great pics and a great collection of tractors huge workshop. Thanks for sharing Hendrik :{_}: :{_}:

Hi,
thank you for all of your kind replies. Here are some more pics:

I had to rebuild the ignition System. Ditributor cap, condenser, wires, plugs... everything is new.
It worked... this Cub starts and runs like top now. Of course I changed all fluids and lubricated and greased everything.

So I decided to put some linseed oil on it to preserve the original paint. I think it turned out good:

I found this Cub on a French Internet site, where it was offered for 1,000 €, which was a typical price for complete Cubs in running condition. I picked this one, because there was the sickle mower, the plow and all wheel weights to go with it. And of course its untouched, not-repainted tin work. There's not a single dent or rust on this.

Here is where this cub spent it's working life:

A very old and small village called Piégut-Pluviers.

So my Cub sat about 790 mls away from me. I was lucky to have a good friend of mine to haul my cub for me, because he purchased an old tractor in France, too. So I only had to pay for some fuel. :worthy: :thanx:
