1949 Cub

Hi All! I just purchased a 49 Cub & got it home. Doing the routine maintenance stuff before anything else, but the tractor has a scraper blade on it & I want to put all of the cultivaters back on. The front ones are pretty straight forward but the rear ones? I'm unable to find the info I need to re-install these.
There are two bars that carry the plow heads? A left & right. I don't have a quick hitch apperently.

Anyone know of pics info on installing?

Thanks!
Steve

Not sure what set you're dealing with. Here are some pics from an orig equipment book circa 1948.
If you tap the pic it will be rightside up and you can enlarge to read text at bottom.

By the way welcome to the forum.
Others on here can give the specific details, but after your second post you'll have access to the how to threads and be able to download manuals for your tractor and equipment.

Thanks Dale that was a huge help! I couldn't figure out the bracket orientation.
Mounted now. I'll need to track down some manuals, I have found a lot of info here!
Thanks again!

Hi,
Below is the Cub 144 Cultivator owner's manual. It has lots of info.
There are other cultivators, yours could be a different one.
You don't use the manual lift lever, shown on page 8, if you have Touch Control.

The Cub operator's manual can help you learn about maintenance that the Cub needs.

Below is the 1949 Cub operator's manual. The experts on here recommend people read it. It has lots of info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. There is a table of contents on page 1.
It shows how Cubs originally looked in it. The lube section begins on page 14.

This manual shows the electrical system that a 1949 Cub originally had.
Page 33 has a pic of a Cub with the hood off, helpful for identifying if your Cub still has the original electrical system.
Page 34 tells how to use the original charge rate, and light switch.
Cubs made before mid 1964 originally had 6 volt, positive ground electrical systems.

The recommendation in the manual to use 10W oil in the Touch Control was changed later to Case IH Hy-Tran fluid. It is sold at Case IH dealers.

I would check or change all the oils before using the Cub. Using it with low oil in a gear housing can damage the parts in the housing.
There are 3 separate gear housings, with 3 separate oil levels to check, in the rear area of a Cub, the transmission, and 2 final drives.

The transmissions in Cubs commonly get water in them, from rain, or condensation inside the housing over time. :)
