1917 Huber Light 4 tractor info

The local tractor club has a 1917 Huber Light 4 tractor in sad shape. I have found pictures of what it is suppose to look like but I would like some more information.

I found the Huber Machinery Museum in Marion, Ohio and I have tried contacting them to arrange a visit. What I have found so far says they are open on Saturday afternoons and at other times by appointment. I will be in the area from October 16th thru 18th, but I cannot get there on Saturday.

Has anyone been there? Do they have a Light 4 that I could take pictures of?

I'll keep trying to reach them by phone. They are probably an all volunteer organization and are not at the museum very often.

:!: I have no pictures yet
:!: I have the front wheels and front assembly in my garage. I've wire brushed them, applied a rust converter, and have primed them. The rest of the tractor needs at least that much work, and probably even more.
:{_}: On Saturday I will be at the OSU vs Rutgars football game. My brother has tickets plus he has a parking pass to get up close to the stadium for the tailgate party!

Here is a photo of an advertisement in Antique Power Magazine. Maybe this guy could help point you in the right direction.

Paul,

Call the Marion County Fairgrounds and they should be able to give you the direct phone number for someone to help you out. Here is the link http://veteransmemorialcoliseum.org/contacts/ to the fairgrounds. The Huber Museum is located on the fairgrounds.

The fellow from the ad that Ricky posted is probably an Amishmen and uses Hubers for stationary power for some farm tasks.

Good luck.

Bill

I received a call from someone at the museum this morning. We made arraignments to visit at 1pm, this Friday.

I am looking forward to this trip.

Now, if I could only get the tractor club to pay for my airfare

Just an update to complete this thread.

I was welcomed at the museum by several members and was given a grand tour. They had lots of general information about Huber machinery and many examples from steam tractors to more modern highway equipment. I was able to identify our club's tractor as made in January, 1921 and we have the original engine. When I showed them the pictures of what we have, about the only thing they could say was "good luck!"

There was a complete Light Four on display and they allowed me to go past the ropes and take close up pictures that may help us reassemble the parts we have.

I made a donation and became a member of the museum. Showing either great optimism or foolish thinking, I bought two decals to apply to our finished tractor, sometime in the distant future.

I had a good time. The OSU vs Rutgers game could have been better.

My thought, as well. Go Bucks!!!!

Paul,

I'm glad you were able to visit the museum. I used to work with a lady that was a Huber.

What I meant was that the weather could have been better, it rained during the 2nd half. And it was chilly for the tailgate party. I was under dressed and bought an expensive OSU sweatshirt that I really didn't need since I already have one, but it was 500 miles away at home.

I was rooting for the Bucks the hole time. :{_}:
