1 wire alternator wiring diagram

Also having difficulties with my 12 volt conversion on my Cub. Installed a Chevy Mini Alternator 1 Wire 4 12180 SE. Wired alternator to battery via starter switch. Alternator is not charging. Do I need to excite it? Beside the battery terminal there also two spade terminals on the back of the alternartor. These are not labeled. There is a vertical one closest to the battery terminal and a horizional one to the left of the vertical one. Which terminals do I connect to excite alternator? Can I just flash it or do I need to install permanent wire with a diodoe? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
 
This is a new question added to a fairly old thread. It should be, and already is, in a new thread. I am locking this one so any replies will need to be made in the other thread.
