hello all. I want to get a 1 bottom plow for my 1948 cub. i have no clue what i need or whar plow to get or anything, and any help is appreciated. my cub has no drawbar or anything whatsoever on the backend besides the pto. my cub does have the hydraulic lift though, thank you.

Welcome.

Several different plows that were manufactured or fit a Cub. Use the search function, top right of page, looking for discussions on different style Cub plows.

One more post and you can access the free down loadable manuals, Quick Links, upper right of this page.

You might want to look for a model 193 plow. You'll need a drawbar too. If buying a plow, make sure it has all the components for the depth control as well (handle & lever shown in the first picture at this link among other components). There is a dogbone and lifting eye that attach between the lever and your drawbar. Those items are frequently missing from 193 plows that show up online for sale. The owner might have them somewhere or they may still be attached to the tractor if the owner doesn't realize they are part of the plow.

Welcome!

Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:

Now that you have 2 posts, you can access all the free PDF downloads in the Manuals section. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download any service manuals that interest you. Implement Manuals, including plows, are also available.

Take some pictures of your tractor and post them. We’d like to see it.

Glad you joined us.

I think the first thing to obtain is a draw bar. That way you can use the tractor to pull a small wagon or trailer.

Check with your farmer neighbors to see what style plow they recommend.

Local Craigslist is an excellent resource.

eugene i posted a wanted ad on the buy and sell area on this website, im hoping to find someone that has the drawbar with the mounts and bolts all in one so i dont have to purchase each one separately. i will definitely ask around about the plow. thank you

While you are waiting for responses, you can also contact JP Tractor Salvage (link to their site at the very bottom of this page) as they probably have what you need.

Yes, JP's would probably have everything you need, but they're a bit far from you in Fredricktown, Missouri. If you would be up for a road trip, Cub-Arama is held in Fredricktown, Missouri every September, the last weekend of the month, each year. This year it's September 27 and 28, Friday and Saturday, with Thursday as set up day. You will also find a swap meet there, so it's possible you can get what you need there also.

If you’ve never used a plow before, I would recommend a belly plow, model 152. Nothing wrong with a 193, just got to know how to set it up if not already set.

Hi,
Welcome to the website.
Below is the 1949 Cub owner's manual, if you don't have it. The experts on here recommend people read it. It has lots of info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. There is a table of contents on page 1. It shows how Cubs originally looked in it.
There is info about the drawbar on pages 42, and 43.

The recommendation in the manual for using motor oil in the Touch Control was changed later to use Case IH Hy-Tran fluid.

Below are pics from TM Tractor of a Cub drawbar. It is usually at the rear position on the tractor, for pulling things.
It's used turned forward for use with the 193 Plow, like in the pics posted in the post above.

Below is the Cub 193 Plow owner's manual. It has lots of info about installing and using the plow.
You don't use the manual lift shown in it, if you have Touch Control.

Page 10 shows the rear lift used with the plow, and other rear mounted implements. You will need the rear lift to use a 193 Plow. :)

Hopefully muleboss can help you out. But FYI

The draw bar was not part of the plow and they usually aren't sold together. Draw bar is pretty easy to come by and as previously mentioned there really isn't any point in buying a 193 plow without the depth control. You'll spend almost twice as much buying them separately.

When you mount the draw bar be sure and use the proper bolts. The wrong bolt can break through the final drive castings. New Cub draw bar bolts are readily available.

The 193 plow was available with a number of different bottoms. Almost all I've seen had a general purpose bottom but a different bottom might be more appropriate for your circumstances. If you post information on the type of plowing conditions you expect to encounter you might be able to get some guidance from members here.
