denso no charge

I have a 1949 cub which i installed a one wire Denso alternator. It seems to be charging at 12.30 volts and that does not charge the battery. Amp meter also does not register a charge even at full throtel. What am i missing?

Dumb question but is this a new installation/conversion or did problems just start? Is the alternator supposed to be self exciting/internal regulating? An amp meter or even a basic voltmeter will help diagnose what's going on. JMHO Stan

you may need to excite it open the pic, #3 nneds to be hot all the time, #2 switched power like jumped from positive post on coil so it turns it on and off

could be wiring, what is the voltage with the engine off, what is the voltage running. If they are the same you are not charging. It should be 13.5 to 14 volts when running.
