Oil gasket issue

Put a new Napa filter in the 200 and after about 35 minutes it blew the gasket. So went and got 2 wix filters. Did the same thing. Read they are the same manufacturers. The gasket is letterally the same size as the oil housing can and there is no size support. Is this a known issue with them? Always used Fram C-135s and never had an issue before. This tractor didn't have an issue with the original filter and oring (of course I threw it away).

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Is this the gasket that goes in the groove around the base that seals the can that goes over the filter? When I used to change oil/filters on the dozen or so Farmalls at my old job I remember I had to be cognizant to not tighten the can down too hard because it can deform the gasket and/or crush the top of the can around the bolt head which won't allow the copper washer to seat and seal. It should be snug. The groove and gasket should be clean of debris and I would wet the gasket with a little oil before pressing it in.

Oh and make sure there isn't an old gasket jammed down in the groove. I remember stacking the new gasket onto an old one once without realizing it.

I was 1000%$ sure I had removed the old one before I pained. Heck I even wire wheeled what I thought was the groove because there was paint.
Long story short the old one was still in there. Works perfect now.

Question ? do you have two seal rubber gasket in the oil filter canister groove of the filter. Check you got two . The bottom one , you may file you will need a pick to get it out of there.

Yup that is what the problem was. I was sure I'd removed the old one. But obviously I didn't.
