Southern Cubbers Check Your Antifreeze

With the cold weather headed down south, I just want to remind everyone to make sure their antifreeze levels are correct in not only your Cubs but all liquid cooled machinery. It's easy to forget when you're not used to cold temperatures.

Good practice to use antifreeze in any climate. My tractors are on a 3-year rotation for changing antifreeze.

Plus, you have the advantage of the anti-corrosion inhibitors that are in the antifreeze. I drain my Cub every year and put in a new 50/50 Prestone mix -- Not for freeze protection -- the glycol will keep you from freezing forever at a 50/50 mix. However, the corrosion inhibitors deteriorate with time, especially if the engine is running hot in the summertime.
