Horn Topic Again
I have decided to go ahead and reproduce the cub horn option for my 1960 Cub. But there are unanswered questions. I have looked up the threads from the past with no answer to my main question. Was the horn made by IH and had an IH symbol or number or was it a delco remy part. I have found a 1950s IH Crane truck in a junk yard I have to dig into to find horn. Or am I wasting my time can I just grab the old WWII Jeep horn I have made by GM. It is just collecting dust on my shelf. It looks right. But I want to do this right. The problem with the crane truck is I will want to bring the whole thing home and my wife will kill me.

I can't say with any authority but I'd be really surprised if IH made the horn or had it badged IH. Production numbers on such units would be so low that it just wouldn't be feasible. But, I've been wrong before..........

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I would agree with the Dog and say that is was probably delco-remy horn. The parts book only identifies it with an IH part number. Check with Jamie at JP. I would think they would be willing to look at it closely (if they haven't already) to see if it has any makers marks.

I have been looking at the IH Horns as well, and it appears to me that these are simply off-the shelf Delco Remy 6 or 12 volt horns depending on year.
If you look at the NOS Horn that Jamie posted in the New Treasures thread, it seems that these are more than likely Delco Remy, based on many of the Delco Remy horn examples that I have seen over the last year on in my search for Horns for my Cubs. This would make sense as IH procured much of their Electrical Equipment from Delco Remy, and they probably used the same horns as their truck production did. Again that would be logical, but just an assumption. I really would like to know for sure though.

Thanks
I was pretty sure it was a Delco. I know where there is a 61 impala and 61 Apache truck. One of them should have a horn in it. Probably the right one. I am not sure the WWII Jeep one I have is quite right. Plus my cub is 12 volt. Thanks everyone for the help
