Quality of brake bands from Taiwan?

Postby oldfarmkid » Fri Dec 29, 2017 11:18 am

Have found info about aftermarket brake bands being of poor lining quality. Some stated very very poor stopping ability, others of lining lasting a terrible short time. All posts are older, maybe three four years ago. Does this mean quality has improved, or everyone just stopped buying them. Also seems these same bands are what many well known tractor parts shops sold. Ones I'm looking at are made in Taiwan Part# R0616. Are they still a waste of money and the better deal is to have them relined. If so, could someone please post a good place to have them relined at. Don't want to have them relined, then find out they used the same poor quality lining material.

Thanks

Tim

Several of us have relined Cub brake bands before using material from McMaster-Carr. The video/info found here:

You might check what you need versus what McMaster-Carr sells. It is good quality material. Hope this helps.

Adding to what Stanton says; McMaster-Carr sells a variety of widths and thicknesses and the lining can be purchased by the foot.

Excellent Stanton and Bob, info given for Cub easily transferred to my project. Will look into McMaster- Carr.

Thanks
