Want to give a BIG "thank you" to JPCubs (Johnny) on the pedal guard pattern. He sent it to me some time ago, but just got to it this past week.

Re: New to Me Farmall AV
Thanks.
Used either a 3/8” or 1/2” drill bit for the inside corners, then a straight edge and angle grinder/cutting disk for the straight cuts.

Re: New to Me Farmall AV
After finished assembling and decals on on, here's what happens when you have a persistent oil leak...
Steering needed tightening up anyway. The key to the steering worm shaft was loose. I welding it up and sanded it down to fit tighter in the slot. Will see if that helps with the play in the steering wheel.
Thought my oil leak was coming from the front crank pulley seal, but no evidence. Found two places: around the oil pan and at the crankshaft oil seal retainer plate (open top to the screw allows oil to come down through the threads past the gasket).
Also had a leak at the oil pan plug. Will be using some No. 2 sealant on that.

It wasn't that bad. I'm better at taking things apart than putting them back together. You know, after I got over the mental hurdle of tearing back into this thing, the actual disassembly was easy.
Anyway, I also discovered that the three horizontal bolt holes in the last picture (retainer plate) were stripped. That would also allow oil to seep out. The guy who did my overhaul "mostly" sealed up the cover plate gasket. Happen to have a new package of 5/16-18 Helicoils that will fit just fine to repair the holes. Should stop the leak.

And just think, each time you get better and faster. And when you have no one else to depend on, you just gotta tackle it your self. And you can!

You are right...the hardest part is accepting that it needs to be done, so you might as well "JUST DO IT" !!!

Those two pot metal plates are a terrible design IMO. They should at least have made them out of steel so they won't strip so easily!

Agree! Must have been a cost-savings measure employed by IHC. I already increased the rear, center hole for the oil pan to 3/8".

Re: New to Me Farmall AV
Got the Heli-coils in and felt good about the way the front gear cover went back on the engine. Sealed up gaskets for overnight. Next day, filled up the oil, anti-freeze and front steering gear housing. Started up with no disappointments. Took it for a spin and everything seemed fine. Even my effort for tightening up the steering was rewarded; a lot tighter/less slop.
Calling this one "done", even though we all know that's never true. Here it is:
Never found a drawbar for it, so the one I have will probably stay off. Need to make some adjustments to the governor/carb linkage. This tractor is scary fast. Never had it in 3rd or 4th gear, 2nd is fast enough with a LOW throttle.
It's funny. You want and desire something for such a long time and then when you get it, that desire goes on down the road to some other place.
Thanks to everyone for your comments and encouragement along the way.
