12 volts will burn out 6 volt light bulbs in a hurry - almost instantly. Are you sure the bulbs are lit and not burnt out?

If you changed the bulbs to 12 volts, check the grounds.

Lights, hooked up to light switch.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The incandescences are not very bright on a good day and use a lot of amps. There are options for LED bulbs for the 12v teardrops numb fewer for the 6 positive ground

I have not used this bulb https://www.ebay.com/itm/185559372432 but I had success with LEDs, like this example, that have some optics on them and LEDs on the side to take advantage of the reflector. you are looking for bulbs with an 1156/ BA15S base

I can’t speak for the bulbs linked to above but I’ve had good luck with the JDMastar leds purchased from EBay.

I believe you have a 47 Cub, but have made changes to the original electrical system. The original 47 was 6v positive ground with magneto ignition. The four position light switch controlled the lights and also controlled the charging system. On the 47 Cub, power to the light switch came from the ammeter. This may be different if you have converted to a 12v battery ignition or you have replaced the generator with an alternator. So let us know what changes have been made to your 47. And if you have a light switch is it the original 4 position switch or has this been replaced with a different switch.

it feels like a 4 position switch but there are two that are so close together that I don't know if it is 1 position or two position switch, it is a 47 cub, when i got it it had a battery ignition and a twelve volt conversion, but the lights weren't hooked up so i hooked them up and let it draw power from the ignition switch, but they were kind of dim

Based on the above wiring diagram for a 12v battery ignition system, the lights are wired to the light switch and it gets power from the ignition switch.
A 4-Position Light Switch has four positions for the selector switch, but makes only three clicks. A photo of the rear of the switch is provided below.

The headlights need to have clean, shiny grounds, making good contact, to operate properly. Check them out.

P.S. The headlight bulbs are grounded to the light shell, through the mounting bolt, through the hood, through the dash, to the chassis. Lots of opportunity for corrosion to interrupt the current flow to ground.

if you look in the owners manual in the manual section you can down load it for free, the manual has the wiring diagram in it

If you are having conductivity issues because of rust or paint you could always run a ground wire to the lights. Then you will have a good connection and the lights will probably be brighter. Not original but it will get the job done. Anywhere you ground to, make sure it is shiney clean metal.
