Governor Adjustment--UPDATED

Postby Farmer Dell » Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:43 am

So tell me, how is it when you put an identical spring back onto the governor (where the old one broke) that it completely changes the tension so that the carburetor rod linkage must be completely re-threaded from the front towards the back (in moving the turnbuckle) to shorten it again, just to get the same performance as before the spring change? :?

The spring you pulled out may have been in better shape than you thought. Anytime I touch the carb or the governor I end up having to redo the adjustment.

The spring does not change performance ( add hp) as much as it helps the governor to keep up with any changes in load to keep the engine at the RPM set by the throttle position
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Different tension, and tthe linkage was probably adjusted to the old spring's tension.
