Total starter frustration,

Postby Dusty B » Tue May 18, 2021 7:48 pm

A starter. Runs great w/direct hook up to lug on 12V! Reroute cable connection and nothing!! Have tried 3 different connectors including a new one same results nothing! Only thing I can figure is that the lug on the frame of the starter is worn down too low for the switch to make contact? Next move tomorrow is to try another starter. Anyone had that kind of problem before?.? Is there any way to build up that contact lug?? :lost:

Weak 6 volt starter.
Is there any way to build up that contact lug?
Lever operated starter switch. Elongate the screw holes in the starter switch a bit, perhaps 1/32 inch, in the opposite direction of the starter switch lug. When you mount the switch you can move it slightly forward/toward the starter switch lug. This will provide more contact between the plunger and the lug.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I had the lug replaced by a local alternator shop...IF I remember correctly  , it wasn't too expensive.

It could also be the switch.
