Light Rebuild

Postby goxu1 » Fri Apr 09, 2021 10:19 pm

Not technically a cub subject ,but just wondering if anyone has rebuilt one of the IH tail lights.
The lead has lost its insulation and I can't see how it's removed , or even if it can be removed

the wire should just pull up through if I remember correctly, think it had a spring under the contact plate, I use new wire and solder a rivet to it for the new contact

The spring may rusty and not strong enough any more. You can probably find a new replacement socket that you can take the spring and wire from and fish into your housing. (Super Bright LEDs has sockets for less than $2). Remove the old wire and spring, then bead blast the whole inside. Mask the socket before repainting. Then completely coat the socket with dielectric grease. Install the spring and wire with some more dielectric grease.

Ok , after some force I got the wire out.
Like Tim said I'll fashion up a new wire
The fun might be feeding the new wire back thru the socket and shaft
