Sidewinder Brush Hog

Postby T-Mo » Sun Jan 10, 2021 7:20 am

I picked up a 1940 Farmall H, and I'm thinking it would be perfect to use a brush hog or pull behind, drawbar mounted, trail mower. The guy I got the tractor from has a Sidewinder that would need work (he supposed to send me pictures).

My question is, are there places to get parts for Sidewinders, and if anyone here has any info on them? Thanks.

BTW, I personally never heard of Sidewinder, but then again, I'm not that familiar with a lot of implements.

Are the blades and disc on the mower driven by a tire? If so, I have one

I don't have any info on it yet, nor have I seen it yet. I'll contact the guy later today. Thanks.

I do not know what he has, but a 6 footer is about maximum for an H.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Google sidewinder brush hog mower, you'll find lots of pictures, some with the tire on the drive shaft, made by FMC. Stan

Since my H has no 3 point, and just a drawbar, I managed to find a 5' tag-a-long rotary cutter made by Woods, a model 60-4. It's from the sixties, I believe, but like Woods implements. built stout. It's 5', as its name suggests. The H handles it without hardly a grunt, and I've cut sweet gums and pines up to around 2" in diameter. A fun time, for sure!
