Yesterday was a busy day. I worked until 3:30, loaded up my John Deere 425 with the front end loader and met a couple of other church members at the chruch. I used the bucket to load 2 trailers full of dirt to relocate. Once at it's new destination about 2 miles north of town, I unloaded the trailers and headed home.
When I got home I noticed the grass needed mowing so after supper I got out the John Deere 335 and mowed the lawn. That usually takes about an hour and a half.
My neighbor Brett, came over earlier in the day and asked if I would use my sickle mower to cut some wild flowers in his backyard. Well you know how it is when you get a chance to play with your tractor! Once my mowing was done I took the Cub across the street and put her to work. Brett took some video of the Cub at work.

I ran a walk-behind sickle mower extensively back in the 80's and really love the way they cut through and drop those tall weeds. Yours looks like it's cutting great and it's a lot safer sitting on a tractor! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for posting this. Brought back memories of when Grandpa would mow the 3-4 acre field to get rid of the grass and wild carrot. Grandma called it Queen Annes Lace. She would have me bring in a big handful and put it in a vase. When Grandpa saw it he'd spit and sputter about weeds in the house. It wasn't until I had Grandkids that I figured out what was going on!

That is a good tool for the job without slinging vegetation all over the place. I use a Stihl sickle bar attachement on my Kombi Tool for smaller jobs. It provides a 24-inch cut and is good for clearing trails and anything over head up to about 1-inch diameter. Great for cutting wild grape vines under conifer trees. It's cost was $250 but is typical Stihl quality.
