clutch adjustment

Changed out the throwout bearing on Mr Jesse here about 3 months ago. Everything went fine until last week. All at once clutch chattered and wouldn't go into gear. No problem, I just adjusted the clutch pedal and all went well again. Now today, in the midst of filling up some holes in the yard I attempted to put it in reverse and it just chattered and the pedal went to the floor. Turned it loose and the pedal came back but I have not been able to adjust the pedal and get it in gear. I have went all up and down the slot and no position works. What else should I do? Check the spring. I've never had trouble with a spring so could someone tell me how to test it and if that is not the trouble, what then?

P.S. for those of you who do not know him, Mr Jesse is a lowboy with a bucket.

First off, look in through the hand hole and make sure the throwout bearing didn't explode.

Below is a page from the 1957 LoBoy operator's manual showing the clutch.
The graphite material sticks out of a new throwout bearing 5/16".

Use a good light to see in the hand hole. It is helpful to have the tractor in a building, so you don't have to look up at the bright sky, from under the tractor.

You didn't say what year LoBoy you have.

Billy Ray, you're gonna have to git on your back this time. I think Jim's right, it sounds like throw out bearing failure.

I had a new bearing do that. It was greased but I did not know to soak it in oil for a while before installing it.
