Fast-hitch disc question

Is the diagonal link lock bolt supposed to be loose when using a fast hitch disc?? I know it is supposed to be with the mold board plow but wasn't sure with the disc

Hi,
Below is the operator's manual for the L-38 Disc, if you don't have it.
I don't see it mentioned in the manual.

I remove the pin through the round bar, below the Diagonal Link, then the Disc can move side to side some, I think it makes turning easier.
You could oil the bar too, so it can slide easier. I like to oil the pivot pins on the Fast Hitch too.

I asked the same question last year. Most said to let the lock bolt loss and I found that worked best. I set my draw bar in the center and pin it, but may try what Glen suggest next time as well.

That's a good idea Glen. Never thought to pull the pin in the round bar to allow side to side sway.

I run it loose once in the field but transport with it tight & the pin in the bottom bar to keep it out of the tires, also I take it easy on the headlands if I have to turn around . I have my rears set wider than standard to clear the loader frame.TJ

Probably depends on exactly what you are using it for. If you are doing primary tillage, you are better to let the diagonal free. If you are doing some closer work, for example tillage between berry rows, set the link to hold the horizontal position.
