Verizon wireless users
If you are using one of the older 3G phones they will not be usable after Dec. 2019 per Verizon support.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Verizon wireless users
Also, as of last summer they will not activate a 3G phone that is not currently in use. So any old phone you have stashed away is unusable.

Here in my part of Missouri, ATT is using a higher strand of wire to go between the two cans (we're a bit behind the times).

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Makes you wonder if Verizon always had a reception problem, if their main advertising campaign hinged on whether the callers could hear their phone calls.
I'm thinking about replacing my can with a new one - any suggestions on what can has the best reception?

Re: Verizon wireless users
Does the larger diameter cans have better reception than the smaller diameter cans, or is the depth of the can the most significant factor on signal and reception? I'm sure Alexander Graham Bell will have a study paper on it - may have to search for any of his archives.

Re: Verizon wireless users
Larger diameter give you better bass, and deeper ones give resonance for a concert hall feeling, but neither help reception, that is controlled by string type and tension.

Re: Verizon wireless users
To get back on topic, sort of, I had an iPhone 3GS for years (until August 2016), and it always gave great reception and clarity on my phone calls. The problem was that there was no more upgrades to be had on it. Funny story on it - my wife likes to go to Walmart.com to purchase stuff and use their ship to store thingy. One time, I was going to pick the package up at one of our local Walmarts and when I showed the girl there at the counter the email from Walmart for pickup, she couldn't believe my small phone. She even showed it to her co-worker on how small my little iPhone was (and old). I wanted to hang onto that old 3GS, but it was time to upgrade, so I now have a 6S Plus that I got back in August 2016 to replaced the little 3GS.

Yes. For it to work after next year it must be at least 4G LTE capable.
