Mahindra 3505 DI Purchase???

Postby Peter Person » Mon Apr 12, 2021 12:26 pm

I have an opportunity to pick up an early 2000ish Mahindra 3505 DI tractor, 4 speed with H & L.
200X Mahindra 3505 DI.jpg

1,600 hours, one cylinder has one or more broken rings and the sleeve is scratched. Tractor runs. Going to have Aron give it a shakedown cruise this weekend to see if it's worth offering on.
Original tires all around that are in really good shape for being 20 years old.
Bucket Loader
Curtis Cab
3pt Hitch

Looking for opinions on what it's worth.

Thanks,
Peter

Search Tractorhouse for values. Might this be your new snow mover? :D

I did a search on several sites, only came up with two tractors, neither of which had a loader or cab. Both had between 650-700 hours.
One in really nice shape, stored indoors, $7,850.
One in similar condition as the one I’m looking at, $3,900.

Will be used to move snow piles, maybe get a plow set up, handle firewood, turn the compost pile, move heavy objects....

Peter, does the cab come with doors or side curtains?

Checked Mahindra’s parts website and I see a lot of engine, transmission, and other parts still available. Can even buy a brand new engine for $8500.

Good point though, Tim.

For what it is worth I have a 2012 50 hp Mahindra (5035) that I absolutely love. Mahindra is the number 1 selling tractor worldwide, just not in the US. SO the downside I see is very few dealers close by to me. However, I do most of my own work, so I order parts off the internet, I think you would have the same option for most maintenance. Really tough tractors, mine is Hydrostat, and I love the power it puts to the ground.

Not my cup of tea, but might be pleasurable for you!

Comes with a fancy pink loader!

They are all nice when they work! But......

I remember a guy my brother worked with had a Kubota and some part failed (think it was a hydraulic pump)!

Kubota did not have one in their parts inventory here state side, so he had to wait around 30 days while they shipped one over on the boat! :(

Good luck!

Picked it up yesterday and immediately put it to work.

Peter, a machine that size, is a great addition to the herd. You'll soon wonder how you lived without the loader!

So... The piston ring doesn't need to be fixed?

We need to take the head off and see how much we need to replace. Could be just hone the sleeve, replace the rings, new head gasket, and call it good. I might use the tractor 20-30 hours per year.
It starts right up and doesn’t make any unusual noises.

The more you run it that way,--The more damage you will do to the motor---- keep that in mind!!!
