Thanks For Helping Make Shallow Creek Farm CubFest Great.

Postby Barnyard » Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:43 pm

The Shallow Creek Farm CubFest went great. We had one Cub needing a tune up and other little problems. Several carbs were rebuilt, several mags were gone through and made right. One Cub had a new front engine seal installed along with a front axle tube replacement. Two Cubs had completely stuck engines. Both were running before the CubFest was over. Many other smaller projects were done as well. All the meals kept everyone fed throughout the weekend. All in all, a good time was had by all.

Rosanne and I want to thank everyone who were in attendance. It is you who make a CubFest a success. Thanks to the guys who gave their time helping others learn. Bob McCarty spent many hours working on carburetors and making them right. Gary Dotson was busy as usual mentoring almost every one who had a big project. I normally will not ask anyone to work on my own Cub at my CubFest, however we were short on projects and long on ambition so I was asked if there was anything I needed done to kill time. I had a locked Cub and Gary, Steve Butram, Frank Gosda and Bob McCarty ganged up on it. By Saturday Morning it was running on its own power. That left all day Saturday with nothing to do. I had another Cub in the corner with the hood and head off that was also stuck. Before long it was on the shop floor. Those guys, along with Harlan Pierce and Doug (Thackery) Spaur, pitched in and by afternoon it was sputtering around the barnyard as well. Both need additional attention that I will get to this winter, but at least they now have a heartbeat.

All the ladies in attendance, Regina Dotson, Terry Peirce, Janice Silvey, Cindy Gray and Janet Ratliff are to be commended for their huge help to Rosanne preparing the many meals that were served. She could never have done it alone.

Last, but definitely not least, A big thanks to Doug Miller (1541) for the boatload of chicken for Fridays meal. It sure saved the ladies and Steve Butram, a lot of work.

All in all, everyone had a great time and Rosie and I appreciate everyones effort in making it a good one!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks to you and Rosie for hosting a great CubFest. I introduced my friend Dave to his first CubFest and was he impressed, even though our stay was short. I'm confident that his next CubFest will involve a longer stay.
