4wd KubKar golfcart project
I'm starting a project I've been wanting to try for some time, I acquired a Clubcar Precedent complete body, I had in storage a Cushmann rear end, I bought an all wheel steer rear axle out of an older garden tractor that I'm putting in the front of this project, I bought 4 matching tires and rims, bought a nice little aluminum radiator/electric fan setup, new compact alternator, new heavy duty golfcart springs, and I bought a cub engine from Nathan a while ago. It'll have a mounted torque converter, and a forward/neutral/rev gearbox. I also acquired the original top canopy. I'm fabing up the frame now, I'll post updates as they progress.
When I told my dad I've been misplacing things and doing stupid stuff----His reply---"It only gets better"

That engine has a handy location for a hydraulic pump. Just in case you need a hydraulic dump box or need a hydraulic lift kit for more clearance.

There we go !
You’ve been laying low too long Rick.
I was beginning to wonder if the creative juices stopped flowing, retired or something...
After Harley, the backhoe cub and all those neat things that came out of KubKraft I was hoping something else will come. I betting on two things, it’ll look like it could have come from IH and it’s going to be something to inspire the rest of us!

As usual Rick, your project will be be top-notch, looking forward to watching your progress. Not sure if you can use it? But I think I have one of the the gear reduction units laying around...?.

I can't wait to see it. Just make sure you watch how wide you make it. Portland now has width restrictions and we'd love to see you there with it.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: 4wd KubKar golfcart project
Thanks everyone for the encouragement and pressure now to make it work
Mike(into tractors) I'll keep that in mind but prob won't need it.
funny you mentioned that. I was looking at the clearance on that side and thought about what I could use with hydraulic power.
The tires won't be any wider than the body.
I went out to my friends repair business and he gave me an electric water pump off a Volkswagon. That'll make the cooling flow much better.
Yesterday I located where the mini MSD alternator will go and fabbed up the rear plate for mounting the torque converter.I actually modified the cub's torque tube and it's only about 6" long. That acts kinda like a blowproof bellhousing and allowed me to use the side impliment mounting holes for rear motor mounts. The plate will be trimmed up to look nicer instead of a big square corner.
I'm fitting everything to mount under the KubKar seat and inside the body section where the batteries normally are stored.

Re: 4wd KubKar golfcart project
You can't see it but that plate is actually bolted to the torque tube. The tube wall thickness was enough to drill and tap multiple bevelhead bolts through the plate and into the torquetube. My plan is to use the cub trans imput shaft, cut it down and machine it to accept the primary torque clutch. That will also give me the capability to extend it out the cover, install another optional gear, and support it with a pillow block.
