Cub Trailer Project

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

Cub Trailer Project

Postby Don B. » Wed Apr 03, 2019 3:43 pm

I wanted to have a small trailer to give rides to my niece's two kids. I started by finding a used 4x6 utility trailer that had originally come from Tractor Supply.

I took the worn out tires off and promptly learned about trying to apply paint over powder-coated wheels. I finally used epoxy appliance paint (almond color) with good results. As I got good weather during the winter, I slowly cleaned up the trailer. I removed the axle and put it on the bottom of the leaf springs instead of the top. I think that, by raising the trailer, it looks more like a farm utility trailer.

Then I primed it with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer.

With better weather, I painted it with my red Valspar.

Then got the wheels back on with brand new tires.

But, wait, there's more...

Next, I started adding the wood sides and benches.

I think the decals from TM are icing on the cake.

Looking forward to having a little fun with it this summer! :tractor:

We had a chance to take the new trailer for a test drive this weekend. My wife loves it, but since it's a little bouncy at times, she may need a lid for her wine glass. :D

I'm sorry, Shane Nelson. I couldn't resist adding the Pepsi can for scale.
