Lost a good friend

Postby Rick Spivey » Thu May 02, 2019 10:04 am

We lost Lucy, our mixed lab, last night. She was 14 1/2. The last year her hips were giving her fits. Last week she got bit by an unknown but venomous snake on a hind leg, and lost a fair bit of skin and muscle. The vet had done minor surgery twice, and thought she could recover the use of the leg. But the strain of it all, the difficult weeks ahead, and maybe just time all caught up to her, and she passed in her sleep. We always hoped that was the peaceful end she would receive, and she spared us the heartbreak of a more difficult decision at some point down the road. Just a few pics to celebrate her spirit, she will be missed.

Rick, sorry to hear of your loss. A family pet is a family member. I'm sure you will always look back at the great times you had together. Rosie and I just got home from the vet with Bandit. She is 15 and in her last stage of life with Kidney and heart failure. The vet said she still has some quality of life left in her and we want her to enjoy that. I just don't want to see her suffer.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Rick,

I sure hate to hear that. They just don't live near long enough. My baby girl takes just about every step I take. When the storm hit early this morning she stuck her nose right under my arm and layer there till it passed.

Losing one is like losing a loved one. I consider my pets part of the family. Again, I'm really sorry for your loss.

Condolences at your loss, Rick. I agree with you about them passing in their sleep. Been there and the other side of the coin with having to make that difficult visit to the vet; former much better of a sad situation.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Blessings to you and your family.
