While others have their preferences, the meter I prefer for Cubs and similar tractors is the Hoyt AGB-1. Now apparently discontinued by the manufacturer, at this moment there are two used ones offered on eBay.

I have a couple of meters that cost in the $100- range.

What I use in the shop is the meters from Harbor Freight. Digital meters from the local hardware store. Inexpensive, accuracy is very good. For the most part it's cheaper to purchase another meter than to replace the battery.
