What is this pneumatic jack you're talking about Dale? Do you all think the torqueing by working the jack is enough to hurt the front of the engine, crankshaft, or pulley?

It wasn't going to hurt anything, it just caused the whole shebang to twist a bit, and misalign.

On Earl's version, the base plate of the jack is bolted to the bottom plate.

That's correct. The twisting that was allowed was from the all-thread. Maybe I just didn't get the three of them even and tight enough. The thing just "squirmed"!!

Of course, I think having a minimum of 3 people do this is a must: one to hold the plate in position behind the pulley, one to hold the jack/plate end, and one to pump the bottle jack. Maybe a fourth just to watch to ensure everything stays square! That is why it is a good idea to do this at a cubfest!! There are always at least 4 guys to do the task ...and at least four more to "supervise"!!

When using Earl's puller, I found that putting a nut on each side of the base plate and tightening them made it much easier to use. Most of the movement was eliminated and it operated much more efficiently.

Shane - I do love your work, as a child I had a metal toy Farmall A. (dating myself as no toys are metal anymore) It had a wagon, 16 row disc, and a 4 row plow. I now know that those implements were a but much for an A, but I sure wore that old thing out. Still have it, but one wheel is missing and the steering box needs a rebuild!

As one of 4 daughters, I grew up coveting my wealthy neighbor's Tonka Toys!!

I haqve seen some full sized A tractors in the same condition.

I'm working on getting the dimensions of the extended "hub" on a crankshaft pulley from a Farmall 140 and a Cub 154 Loboy. Friend has both that are removed from the tractor. Still need to find someone with a Super A to get those measurements of that crank pulley. We will come up with something!

My friend said he will be getting the dimensions of those other pulleys today.
