"Ladder jacks." Put them on two extension ladders and place a couple of planks between them and you have a surface (scaffold) from which to work.

Google 'ladder jacks' and you will find lots of modern versions for sale, presumably OSHA approved. However, Dale's may not meet OSHA's standards. :)
