I'm an advocate of alternate day delivery. Serve half the routes M/W/F and the other half T/T/S.
I think either suggestion would have to be considered and a determination made on a local basis.

Linn, Mo., the business on main street and the residents who live on main street have boxes at the post office or receive mail via RFD on an adjacent street to the rear of the business/house. RFD services all in town residents as well as the many business located outside the city limits.

Here in our area, we’re blessed with excellent USPS service, we have no complaints, at all. Our route lady is as nice and accommodating as she could possibly be, we hope she’s on our route forever. The gal that occasionally subs for her, doesn’t know how to close the Mail box door.

I just found out that the USPS raised their priority mail rates between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The bubble envelope went up $ .75. I don't know if it was the same for boxes or not. The clerk was surprised that the rate came back down.

Hey I live in middle Tennessee. I ordered something a couple of weeks ago from California. It made it to Nashville and the bright folks at USPS sent it back to California instead of 50 miles south of Nashville to me.
I finally got it but it took 2 weeks getting here.
Good ol' USPS.

Given the quality of service, the expansion of electronic means of communication and the fact that other (though more expensive) alternatives exist, I think it's time for the USPS to go the way of the do-do bird.

I have some stuff coming from Ga and the tracking says it was shipped on the 19th and that is all it says. Their tracking is pretty bad.

USPS Priority first class postage. Small part, departed Hebron, Ky 41048 on 14 Feb 22 to Linn, Mo. Still in transit.

UPS. Part ordered 20 Feb 22 from Columbus, Oh. Arrived on porch today, 23 Feb.

Today's local newspaper. License Fee Office (drivers and vehicle licenses), city owned, Linn, Mo. will start using UPS for shipping two packets a week to the main office. Saving up to $4.20 a week.

Just got back home from a month down South. Had our mail held at the Post Office during that month. Went yesterday to pick up the accumulated mail. Out of the 40 or 50 pieces of mail handed over by the Post Office employee, about 15 were for someone else at a completely different address. Wonder how much of my mail was sent who knows where? Incompetence at it's finest.
