Seating stubborn bead on tubeless tire

Postby Urbish » Thu Sep 30, 2021 6:08 pm

I bought some steel rims to mount new winter tires on for my Durango. I hand mounted them, but then could not get the bead to seat. I tried the ratchet strap trick, but the tires are so sticky that the ratchet strap wouldn't slide and compress the center of the tire. Then I found this bicycle inner tube trick on YouTube. It worked perfectly!

Pretty cool!! I usually use the flammable spray method to mount stubborn tires myself, but always as a last resort. That always seems to work well for me.
