Wet and dry compression tests on a V8?

Postby Crimson Tim » Sat Feb 22, 2020 8:29 pm

I’m not sure if this is the best section of the forum to post this, but here goes...

I need to do some diagnostic work on my 400k mile truck. Does the concept of the wet and dry compression tests that works so well on the Cubs (in-line 4, oriented vertically) work at all on a V8? The oil you would put in the cylinder for the wet test would seem to collect on the low side of the cylinder, but maybe it still distributes enough to be useful? Does anybody have any experience with this?

:thanx:

Thanks, Tim. I was hoping it would still get distributed enough to function the same way, even with the cylinders canted over.
