I washed the anvil but did no rust removal and took more pictures. It looks to be in real good shape and used little. The only issue I see is the working surface looks to be uniformly rust pitted. So if cleaned up it looks like it will be lightly pitted throughout. No gouges or nicks like I see on some.
I was just curious from somebody like Coppersmythe if you see this as a major issue downgrading the value.

I left the anvil rusty and listed it for $400 yesterday here in NW Wisconsin. It sold for list price in a few hours. I asked the buyer if he would have been turned off if I removed the rust but to this buyer it made no difference. Sounds like he planned to put it to use and had been looking for one but the ones he looked at had chips and gouges on the edge of the hammering surface.
