Farmall Cub

I've got a few patches of corn in the ground this year. I've got the old standby of silver queen but I'm also doing a few patches of open pollinated corn. I'm going with truckers favorite and Hastings prolific. The latter I'm going for seed. What is your preference?

I like sweet corn, so I plant Peaches and Cream.

My favorite is a yellow corn, Incredible, from Speedway. I also have some Peaches and Cream, Silver Queen, and an early variety. I plant small 10 foot row blocks and time them for pollination and yield up until October.

I've tried peaches and cream in the past with fair success. I'm planting the Hastings with the dream of grinding my own corn meal. Ive struggled to find the seed as it isn't sold anymore. I received two ounces of seed from an old friend with a green thumb. Hopefully a little luck will leave me with enough seed to go crazy next year

That's a good way to do it. My in-laws plant a pretty big patch every year and it all comes off at once so for 2-3 days they just about kill themselves putting up corn.

As far as varieties I lean towards the yellow ones. Right now we plant a lot of bodacious, G-90, etc. My in-laws plant, I believe it's tender treat or something like that. Honestly, sweet corn all tastes the same to me, and it's all good. There are few things tastier than a ladle-full of cut off corn on top some half-inch thick fresh tomato slices....

NK-199 ( the kind commercial canners use)(I used to grow it for Stokley-Van camps),--- Jack pot,---ambrosia, and had a kind they called ruby red---it ended up being red field corn!!!---o.k. IF you want what they call "roastin' ears"---but it's NOT sweet corn!----A couple years ago I did a corn plot with 4 row width blocks of corn starting with the earliest and planted the longest season kind last.---it does really space out your harvest and neet thing is you plant it all the same day! thanks; sonny

I'm with Don on this one Bodacious corn is the sweetest corn i have ever had.

I have to say, I'm very pleased so far with the Hastings prolific that I've planted. Almost all off it came up and its topped out over seven feet tall. Can't wait to start picking! As an added bonus I found a seed source so I can actually enjoy this corn instead of saving it all for seed

I'd have to say Honey Select is the sweetest, most tender corn I've ever grown or eaten.

We love Merit sweet corn, taste good and almost all the silk comes off when you shuck it. I love it cooked in a skillet and poured over a hot biscuit like gravy
