Got caught up on my winter service work on the "real farming" tractors, so now I've got some time to get some other projects taken care of. Pulled two radiators today, the one on my Farmall 230 has an unidentified leak. The whole thing is damp. That radiator put up a good fight coming out, the old hoses had it cinched in pretty good
Also removed the radiator on my JD 300B loader-backhoe. The neck has sprung a leak where it attaches to the radiator top. Now it's off to the radiator shop!

Re: Keeping busy in the shop
Brought the 72 Chevy into the shop, finally doing away with the widow maker split rims. These are the real split rims, that come apart in half. Had they been the lock ring type I would have left them alone. Picked up some new 9r22.5 tires and rims and mounted them up.
But as Red-Green always used to say, "Some people can't leave well enough alone." One rear hub had two "boogered" lug studs, and one that I ended up stripping with the 1" impact installing the rims. I figured I have installed plenty of studs before, how bad can these be?
Now here I am half a day later with both halves of the axle assembly apart just to replace some lug studs.

Every twenty minute job is one broken bolt away from a three day ordeal.

I might need to make a sign for my shop that says that...

And not big enough! The shop area without all my tooling, benches, oil barrels and toolboxes is 32x72. Should have gone 16' wider and 16' deeper!

Andy, the only time a shop is ever big enough is when you’re trying to heat it on a zero deg. day

I steer clear of using impact tools on my lug nuts or lug bolts (screws

Re: Keeping busy in the shop
impact is the ONLY way I can get them off! --- use one for everything. 1/4" for small stuff, 3/8 butterfly for whatever it will handle and the 1/2" Earthquake for the rest of the stuff.
