Potatoes up again. onions never slowed down. parsnips never came up, only have a few beets and carrots that came up. ground stayed too cold OR soil insects got the seed.
started to transplant cabbage, cauliflower, and broc. plants from the hotbed. got about 70 cabbage done last night. Have a few tomato plants that gotta be put in the garden since they have about outgrown the hotbed.
Might be a few late blooming peach flowers that have turned into peaches, so we see!
Not much asparagus this year, rhubarb did fair. The seedlings I started last year made the winter are doing great and I will start some more this year.
Rain has been passing by us but we have enough for now anyway.

More frost forecast for next week. This is getting ridiculous. Maybe we’re going into another mini ice age.

We give away most of what we grow to whoever wants it and one guy takes a bunch of it to his church food bank, so we try to help him out with that. Used to take a lot to the mission, but they now only want money so we dont take anything to them anymore!
Will plant about 30 more cabbage plants then 15 or so brocks. and 15 or so cauliflower plants.
Did want quite a few tomato plants but they are not doing the best in the hotbed----- kinda slow coming up for some reason.
Did get the cucumbers planted ---- now to see IF they will come up.
Still cold here at night ---- around 36 - 38 range for several nights again! At least no snow YET!!!

Sleet here this morning. Upper thirties, lower forties for nighttime temps for the next week. This is the coldest, wettest Spring that I can remember in a long time.

Oh, be careful what you wish for! A couple years ago we had a VERY wet spring....which turned into a scorching, DRY summer. :|

Had 3" of rain here Saturday night just after I got the rest of the cabbage plants in. High cold North wind yesterday. Will be a while before I can do more in the gardens so its back to working on tractors for now! REALLY want to get the 340 finished so I can try the big tiller on it. ---- Neighbors 706 is great cept its too wide for the 72" tillers!
Too cold yet for most seeds so waiting on that. Tomato plants in hotbed are starting to come now so we see what turns out from there. I planted more seeds in pots for late plants IF any of it grows.
The first tomato plants I started are 8 to 10" tall but too cold to put them in the row.
Lookin to be a late cold one this year and usually turns very hot at the flip of a switch.

I would rather put up with being a little light on rain than being too heavy on rain!

I pray for sensible rain! :)

It’s a nice day in Raleigh NC today so I decided to work in my garden. 65 more tomato plants put in the ground and a 90 ft row of okra planted. I pinched suckers off the first 100 tomato plants that I put in the ground. I then used my Armstrong cultivator for about 3 hours to catch up on weeding. They are calling for a little more rain tomorrow which will be great for the tomatoes I set out today. I’m glad we are not getting the rain this year that we had last year. Maybe we will have more normal rainfall this year. I can easily irrigate if it gets dry but not much I can do if we get 2-3 inches every week like last year

Still cold here again last night but that is about to change I think from the sounds of the forecast for us, heat is coming in a day or two!
Trying to get tillers ready again to cultivate and get more ground ready to plant.

Need for things to dry out and some sunshine.

Soil temperature is still in the 50 degree F. range.

Put electric fence around newly planted pecans. Checked the solar powered fencer's voltage yesterday, a week of no sunshine, 1.5K voltage. Not much more than a tickle.

Installed the battery powered fencer, 9.7K voltage.
I have an excuse. CRS.
